Elementary Education majors were recently required to take the ACT Collegiate Assessment of Academic Proficiency (CAAP) in the areas of Reading, Writing Essay, and Mathematics for admission to the new Teacher Education program with KSDE licensure. Four of the five students met the cut-off scores for admission to the program, with one student barely missing the cut-off score on one test, which can be retaken at a later date. All students received a Certificate of Achievement in one or more areas which certifies “while attending Barclay College he/she has attained an achievement level at or above the national mean on the following Collegiate Assessment of Academic Proficiency (CAAP) tests. (Reading, Mathematics, and/or Writing Essay)” Raelyn Epp, Breanna Haack, Toney Hatton, Samantha Kegley, and Melynda Lujan were honored with recognition in their general education knowledge that is required for becoming a licensed teacher.
