Plans underway for an online program!

On December 9, 2014, Barclay College received Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) Teacher Education and Elementary Education limited accreditation, the highest level for a new program, allowing the college to begin an approved licensure program. Barclay is offering accredited courses leading towards KSDE licensure in elementary education on the Barclay campus beginning January 2015 and is planning for an online program in the near future. Most education courses are offered on campus on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons and evenings. These courses help candidates prepare for their teaching license in Kansas through professional education, methods courses, field experiences, and student teaching in an accredited classroom.

The Teacher Education and Elementary Education program previously received ACSI accreditation in 2013, and all teacher education receive ACSI endorsement for teaching in an accredited ACSI school in the US and abroad. The program helps candidates develop high-quality learning skills and techniques for classroom environments. The elementary education program courses are a combination of lecture and “hands-on” learning with the development of a variety of themed units, projects and materials. These courses will help students prepare for their career field and placement in elementary school classrooms.

Teacher Education candidate’s living on campus will receive a full-tuition scholarship.  For more information, contact Cheryl Couch, Barclay’s Elementary Education Chair at Cheryl.couch@barclaycollege.edu.
