One hundred five guests attended the Barclay College Association Dinner on March 24. The college Association was started 1917 by the Friends Haviland Academy Board of Trustees to establish a Friends college. Since that time the Association has been the top legal entity of the college. The board established that anyone who donates $100 to the college during the fiscal year automatically
becomes a member of the Association. In recent years the college has provided a dinner to invite the member of the Association to campus for a special time of appreciation. During the dinner graduating seniors tell their stories of how they happened to attend the college, what the college has meant to them, and to thank the Association for its help in providing for their education.

Graduating seniors who spoke at the dinner were Jacob Newton, Friendswood, Texas; Eliot Hinshaw, Haviland, Kansas; and Caleb Heath, Fairland, Indiana. The Barclay Singers, a ladies quintet, and a guitar ensemble from the college provided dinner music.

Thanks to all who are members of the association and make it possible for people to attend Barclay and get a Bible centered education to live a Christian life of service and leadership.

Barclay College is life changing.  As a young man, a student, a teacher, and now as president, I have watched and experienced this transformation on more than one occasion.  Everything we do at this college is driven by our mission as well as our identity as an Evangelical Friends Christian institution.  We believe our ideas must be put into action, and this is why Barclay College makes a
difference in the world.  It is intellect inspired by faith to produce service.

This is nothing new for Barclay College.  For years we have developed students through our mission to inspire life, service, and leadership in an environment of rigorous academics and a spirit lead faith community.  Professors, students, and staff are partners in a personalized community bonded by the call of Christ to compassion, redemption, and service.

As we move into 2012 I am committed to pursue four pillars of vision.  These pillars – academic excellence, faculty growth, expanding graduate education, and a vital faith community – interface with our mission and will lay the foundation for living our witness in this world.

I am looking forward to this coming year and new opportunities to stir hearts and shape minds. Our Master of Arts in Transformational Leadership program will be offered in the fall in a fully online, asynchronous delivery model. Students will be able to access this program from anywhere around the globe with no residency requirements. Barclay College is truly going into the entire world.

Pray for Barclay College. We are servants of the King and your prayers and support are necessary for us to fulfill our calling. Thank you for being in the Barclay College family and for believing in what God is doing here. Let us commit ourselves to carry forward the faith that has been entrusted to us.
